Mike McCready and Duff McKagan's Neck Forming New Band.

The word is out that Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Duff McKagan, best known for his work in punk band the Farts (but also the lesser known Guns N Roses), are starting a new band together. Also involved is drummer Barrett Martin formerly of the Screaming Trees. McCready and Martin played together back in the early 90's in the band Mad Season alongside deceased Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley(before he was deceased).  The idea was sprouted by McCready and Barrett when they began reviewing old unreleased Mad Season demo's while preparing the re-release of the first and only Mad Season album Above, due out April 2nd.

McCready said they recruited Duff McKagan when his name came up in a conversation about "people with really long necks".  "He has like this ostrich thing going on, people remember him, and he's okay at bass too" said McCready.   Just Kidding, said me.  McKagan's neck is insane, am I the only one to think that?
The current three piece band has already recorded some songs and have begun to send them out to possible singers.  Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke, is among the possibilities.  This is the guy who disappeared before the last Killing Joke tour after posting about how he thought his band sucked.  Coleman later turned up somewhere in the African desert where he had been living a "nomadic existence".  This guy would not be my first choice...but please don't tell him I said that.
