Internet Celebrity "Grumpy Cat" Schedules Public Appearance.

It has been announced that everybody's favorite internet meme, "Grumpy Cat", will be showing up at South by Southwest.  I am pretty sure that this will be against Grumpy Cat(whose real name is Tardar Sauce)'s will.  It's unlikely that a cat that already lives in a constant state of annoyance, wants to be thrust into the spotlight at a loud music and art festival where every annoying drunk hipster will be clawing their way through to snap a picture on their iphone 5.  But, as well as hanging out in the Mashable tent all day being gawked at, the cat will also be shooting a friskie's commercial which will make Tardar Sauce's owner, one rich bitch.  I guess that's all that matters right?

Dave Grohl's Soundcity movie Soundtrack up for streaming

Dave Grohl's debut in the film world, Sound City: From Real to Reel, now has a soundtrack which is streaming at NPR.org.  The film is a documentary about Sound City studios in Van Nuys, California where Grohl recorded one of the greatest records of all time Nirvana's Nevermind.  On this soundtrack, Grohl collaborates with several different artists that have also recorded at the studio to write and record new songs.  Artists include Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield and more.  Grohl also recently played two US concerts featuring many of the artists, to promote the movie.  You can hear a really spotty review about the NYC show on the first Weekly Weirdo podcast.

Mike McCready and Duff McKagan's Neck Forming New Band.

The word is out that Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Duff McKagan, best known for his work in punk band the Farts (but also the lesser known Guns N Roses), are starting a new band together. Also involved is drummer Barrett Martin formerly of the Screaming Trees. McCready and Martin played together back in the early 90's in the band Mad Season alongside deceased Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley(before he was deceased).  The idea was sprouted by McCready and Barrett when they began reviewing old unreleased Mad Season demo's while preparing the re-release of the first and only Mad Season album Above, due out April 2nd.
