Guess who's not seeing "the Dark Knight Rises"?
This isn't typically what the Daily Weirdo would blog about, but I would like to vent, so deal with it. As you may have heard by now, some maniac in Aurora, CO showed up at a screening of the Dark Knight Rises and opened fire on the crowd. Twelve people were killed and fifty injured. What kind of world are we living in? I am sickened. Here's what needs to happen...
First, the suspect should not have his photo released. We should be told nothing about him or whatever really dumb message he claims to have been trying to convey ("Revenge for Romney" or "Batman sold out"). And after that, he should just be executed, and his body thrown out to sea like they did with Bin Laden, the end. They clearly have the right guy in custody. So let's be done with it. The minute these lunatics get media coverage and notoriety for these attacks, some other nobody is going to start getting ideas. That's why I'm not even going to release his name to all my fellow weirdo's.
Another thing, isn't it about time we get a Superhero? It seems we only get villains! Maybe it's just easier to be a villain. I know there are millions of comic book nerds out there, we have about a zillion superhero movies out to provide inspiration/how to manuals, we just need someone to step up to the plate! How this hasn't happened yet, I have no idea. "Masked Man with Cape Foils Bank Robbery", "Man Dressed up like Firefly Stops Gunmen!" "Woman in Slutty Outfit prevents massacre"(chick superhero's are always wearing barely anything because men draw the comics.) Maybe it's a lack of money that deters people. The government needs to introduce a new type of spending into the federal budget: "Superhero funding". How it would work is this: Candidates submit videos online of their qualifications, why they think they would make the best hero, etc., The people will then vote and whoever wins will get the funding, and get to it. I can see it now... Obama - "By imposing greater taxes on the 1% tax bracket, I will be able to increase Superhero funding by 50%. We could have a Superhero put in place as early as next year."
Anyways, to conclude my rant. I'm putting the message out there: Gotham City needs a hero! Who is going to turn off Diablo III and start training and sewing their costume? ...Its time!
I'd offer to myself, but I have a blog to run...
