Today, July 23rd 2012 marks the one year anniversary of Amy Winehouse's death. She only made it to the age of 27, but accomplished a ton in that little time, including being a bad-ass singer, as well as just a bad-ass in general. It's a shame I didn't meet Amy before this Blake Fielder-Civil douchebag, who basically ruined her life. But I didn't, and like Flavor Flav says "that's the way the ball bounces G"...
Amy was the kind of girlfriend most guys would've wanted. Aside from wealth and fame, she didn't take any shit. I would've gladly let her fight my battles. She was the type of broad where, if you were to instigate a fight with some dude, she would've probably been the one to kick his ass. I'm sure I would've taken a beating here and there myself, but it would've kept things interesting.
Here is a look at a few moments of her bad-assness:
- In 2006, Winehouse punched a girl fan in the face who criticized her for marrying her husband Blake Fielder-Civil. Blake who was present, in attempt to calm Winehouse, ended up getting kneed in the balls.
- On 26 April 2008, Winehouse is given a warning by police after admitting to slapping a 38 year old man in the face.
- On 5 March 2009, Winehouse was arrested and charged with common assault after a woman claims Winehouse hit her in the eye with a closed fist back in September 2008 while at the Prince's Trust charity ball.
- Another report around the same time, claims Winehouse headbutted a photographer, as well as spat at the English socialite Pippa Middleton.
- On December 19th, 2009, Winehouse was arrested again. At Milton Keynes Theatre, she assaulted the front-of-house manager when he attempted to have her move seats. Listen, Amy sits where Amy wants to sit.
As we remember Amy for her temper and fighting skills, we should also look at the amazing musical catalog she left us with. She was a true talent. If she was still here, for better or worse, we probably never would've heard of Adele.
